How to make a better villain.
I am now convinced that Darth Vader’s armour should have been pink, or at least a rainbow of pastel colors. And he should have had a fashion sense, declaring things like: “You have failed me for the last time commander, I told you never to wear those boots with that shirt!” How would you make Darth Vader a better villain?

The Book of Eli
I saw “The Book of Eli” the night before I flew back to Quebec from British Columbia. I was very tired, so I may have many things wrong about the movie, but a few observations (warning, spoilers follow):
- This is not a Christian movie. The central message of the Bible is not the Golden Rule, but instead that we have broken the Golden Rule and need a savoir.
- At the end of the movie the Bible is placed alongside the Torah and Koran on a bookshelf. This also points away from the conclusion that this is a Christian movie and confused me a fair bit. Eli has a supernatural voice telling him to take the last bible on earth to a place where it will be respected and this is the respect? To be placed among multiple options? I just didn’t get it.
- Eli is tough, especially with that sword. The action scenes are pretty good.
- The sense of despair is palatable. I thought the atmosphere of the movie was great. Denzel Washington is quite good as Eli.
- Overall, I liked the movie. Be careful if you don’t like blood, the movie has some dismemberments and at least one decapitation.
