I have just finished the first chapter of Schreiner’s New Testament Theology and I am loving it. I like that he points out that since Jesus does not explicitly define the kingdom of God that we should go the the Old Testament for that definition. His exposition of the "already-not yet" nature of the kingdom is something I will be thinking over for quite sometime.
I am still working on Okami. I am about half way through. I like it, but find the Wii controls to be unreliable at times. I still recommend it, but if you have little patience then you will be continually frustrated.
I am doing a summary sermon for the book of 1 Peter this week on the person and work of Jesus in the book of 1 Peter. I will also be leading worship and so plan to break the sermon up into 3 or 4 chunks and sing responsive praise about the truths that we discuss. After that, maybe the gospel of Luke? Pray for me.
We are studying creation this week at our Thursday night Bible study. I asked everyone on Sunday during my anouncement to think over whether they thought a 6 day creation mattered, and if so why? I find that many people hold strongly to a six day creation but cannot give good reasons for doing so. Should be fun and hopefully edifying.
I am still eating a good diet again. The idea is to eat just meat, fruit, veggies, nuts, and a bit o’ cheese. So far in the first week I have lost 5 pounds and my pants are lose, but that is not exactly the point. I want to get into a single digit bodyfat percentage because of the risk of heart attack in my family. So I have realized that I need to reform my eating for life. In the past a common thing for my wife and I has been to eat chips while watching a movie or what not. I realized how many chips I could eat in a single sitting when I saw how much longer a bag of chips lasts when she is the only one eating it. I will keep you posted.
